  • Goldrill Beck River Project Visit!

    Wed 25 Aug 2021 Jonathan H

In July 2021 our Junior class were invited by the National Trust to pop down to Hartsop to see the almost completed Goldrill Beck river project aimed at reducing flood risk in the area. The children helped reseed the area and learned how the river was diverted and what effect the work will have locally and further afield.

  • Temporary roadside speedometer

    Wed 14 Jul 2021

Due to our ongoing problems with traffic speeding past the school, our school governors have managed to get a roadside speedometer temporarily installed just along from the school to encourage vehicles to slow down. It certainly seems to be helping.

  • Churchyard Project

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

    June 2021 Churchyard Project

Our recent visits to St Patrick’s Church also got a mention. The children thoroughly enjoyed studying and recording the flora and fauna they found around the church as part of an initiative from the charity ‘Caring for God’s Acre’ which encourages communities to reconnect with their local churchyards. We found a huge variety of plants with fantastic names like Maidenhair Spleenwort and Yellow Pimpernel! Our findings are being sent to the charity to be put on a national database.

St Patrick’s is an amazing place, go take a look!

  • Chicken Press!

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

Why did the chicken cross the road? Why, to buy a copy of the Herald of course! It is with great pride that we can boast not one but TWO school-related articles in our esteemed local paper during June 2021. We find it quite hilarious that Sir Cluckington has, quite deservedly, been name-checked in the local press. We’re seriously thinking about getting him an agent just in case his fledgling media career takes off! A pop song, ‘I should be so Clucky’ is also in the offing. Possibly. Not.
